PHILIPPE PRÉVOST
After ten years working in the performing arts, I decided to pursue another long-standing passion: instrument making. My goal was to combine my creativity with my love of working with raw materials.
I completed my training at the École-Atelier Lutherie-Guitare Bruand, where I had the chance to work alongside some of the most inspiring luthiers and refine my understanding of the craft.
After finishing my training, I joined the luthier collective La Corde, where I offer repair and maintenance services as well as design and build guitars, guided by curiosity and a constant drive to push my practice further.

ALEXANDRE BERNIER
A musician and guitar teacher, Alexandre’s passion for music quickly led him to take an interest in the maintenance of his instruments, and later in guitar making.
He completed his training at the École-Atelier Lutherie-Guitare Bruand in 2024 and now offers repair, maintenance, and building services from his workshop in Longueuil.
LAURIER LACASSE
Inspired from childhood by a deep love for music, Laurier Lacasse grew up in a rich musical environment thanks to his mother, a versatile musician who played violin and accordion. From a young age, he felt the need to create, which naturally led him to woodworking.
In his thirties, he made his lifelong dream come true: becoming a luthier. Equipped with specialized books and a well-stocked workshop, he began a self-taught journey filled with experimentation, curiosity, and precision.
Over the years, he has crafted an impressive variety of instruments: percussion dulcimers, Celtic harps, mandolas, violins, violas, double basses, cellos, acoustic and electric guitars, dobros, ukuleles, electric basses, mandolins… Eschewing repetition, he embraces a diversified approach, often inspired by the woods he collects or carefully selects.
A generalist luthier, he also offers repair, adjustment, and maintenance services. For him, lutherie is far more than a trade: it’s a deep passion. “Doing what you love,” he says, “always brings out the best in you.”

SIMON MARTIN – Natural Harmonic Guitar Project
Born in Rouyn-Noranda, Simon Martin is a composer of contemporary concert music living in Montreal. While he is not a luthier, Simon has a special interest in the guitar and will present his unique project.
This Natural Harmonic Guitar Project is a collaboration between composer Simon Martin, luthier René Wilhelmy, and the École-Atelier Lutherie-Guitare Bruand. Its goal is to redesign the placement of frets on a guitar to produce pitches that differ from the standard tuning system. This opens the door to an almost infinite variety of tuning systems, from historical temperaments to extra-Western modes—or in this case, natural harmony.
