THE FESTIVAL DES GUITARES DU MONDE IN ABITIBI-TÉMISCAMINGUE UNVEILS ITS 2025 PROGRAM
Rouyn-Noranda, March 25, 2025 – The 21st edition of the Festival des Guitares du Monde in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FGMAT), presented by Agnico Eagle, promises to be spectacular with an eclectic lineup that will delight music lovers and enthusiasts.
A UNIQUE OPENING AND A FESTIVE CLOSING
The festival will kick off on May 24 with an exceptional carte blanche performance by Vincent Vallières and Patrice Michaud. These renowned artists will share the stage in an exclusive show created specifically for FGMAT, offering an unforgettable evening of musical collaboration and emotion.
Closing the festival, attendees will enjoy a highly anticipated performance by risingcountry star Owen Riegling. His authentic voice and captivating stage presencepromise a memorable finale to this 21st edition.
A RICH AND DIVERSE LINEUP
Whether you are a dedicated music enthusiast ready for a musical marathon, a curious visitor looking to enjoy a lineup that features 60% free concerts, or simply taking advantage of the beautiful weather between the cold and blackfly season in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, FGMAT has something for everyone.
From May 24 to May 31, 2025, the festival will host a variety of talented artists covering multiple musical styles. Among the highlights, jazz guitar virtuoso Julian Lage willenchant audiences at the Centre de Congrès on May 25 with his refined and innovativeplaying.
On May 26, the Centre de Congrès stage will feature Nikamu Mamuitun, a powerfulmusical collaboration between four Indigenous and four non-Indigenous artists (Matiu,Cédrik St-Onge, Karen Pinette Fontaine, Chloé Lacasse, Scott-Pien Picard, Marcie, Ivan Boivin, and Joëlle Saint-Pierre) celebrating Indigenous culture through authentic and heartfelt compositions.
Folk and soul music fans will be thrilled by Bobby Bazini ’s performance on May 27. With his distinctive voice and fresh material, he promises a captivating show.
On the same day, the French Duo Thémis will elegantly reinterpret classical masterpieces at the Agora des Arts.
On May 29, festival-goers will be treated to a performance by flamenco and world music guitar master Jesse Cook. His expressive and enchanting playing will transport audiences on an emotional musical journey.
On May 30, blues fans will be in for a treat with Joanne Shaw Taylor, a talented guitarist widely recognized as one of the best of her generation. Her charismatic stage presence and electrifying playing promise a high-energy show.
DISCOVERIES NOT TO BE MISSED FGMAT is also a unique opportunity to explore various musical universes and discover emerging artists. Fuso will open the festivities on May 29 at Petit Théâtre with his bright and catchy pop music. On May 30, Bon Enfant will rock the stage with its blend of retro rock and psychedelia. On May 31, Elephant Stone will deliver an original and hypnotic fusion of indie rock and psychedelic sounds, incorporating traditional Indian string instruments like the sitar and dilruba.
On May 24, Yasmin Williams will mesmerize audiences with her innovative and impressive acoustic guitar techniques. The following day, Yvette Young, a true virtuoso, will showcase her globally renowned creativity and technical prowess. On May 26, Mônica Freire will bring warmth and charm with her captivating voice and Brazilian-inspired music.
Additionally, the FGMAT will continue its partnership with Ça Bûche Productions, featuring a metal night with dark death metal band Phobocosm at the QG on May 24.

FESTIVE OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
For those who enjoy live music under the stars, the outdoor stage will feature electrifying performances by Alex Pic on May 24 and Valence on May 30. These free concerts are not to be missed!
NEW: FAMILY DAY
For the first time, FGMAT will host a special Family Day on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at its outdoor venue. Presented by the Comité du Vieux Noranda, the day will offer various fun activities for families in a festive atmosphere.
The LUTHIERS’ FAIR
will also return for the third consecutive year, running from May 24 to May 26, from 11 AM to 4 PM. Visitors are invited to explore the craftsmanship of instrument makers.
The exhibition “Fleurs” by photographer Christian Leduc will be held from May 23 to May 27 at the Agora des Arts lounge. A vernissage will take place on May 23 in a 5 to 7 PM format. The exhibition is free and open to all.
Additional free events, including midday and 5 PM performances on the outdoor stage, will be announced in the coming weeks.
2025 VISUAL IDENTITY
The visual identity for this 21st edition is inspired by the artwork of artist Ariane Ouellet, who designed the festival’s official poster. Based on her creation, this year’s festival trailer was produced by Cédric Corbeil under the artistic direction of Andrée-Ann Dyell.
