Rémi Boucher
Originally from Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a region in northern Quebec, Rémi Boucher turned to music very early on. He began the diligent study of classical guitar at the age of twelve.
Today, his playing is vibrant with energy, with a flamboyance that captures emotion and draws it into moments of high tension, can flow into impressionistic scenes of great poetry. This virtuosity comes from a long work of artistic and technical research which led him to create new possibilities for polyphony, resonance, sound support, articulation and virtuoso features. He thus developed new techniques which allowed him to push the limits of the instrument further. Among other things, the “Alzapua” thumb technique which he uses like a plectrum. A pioneer in this field, he managed to develop the complete playing of the plectrum -arpeggios, scales, trills, etc. – but instead using the thumb which alternates on both sides, which opens up the possibility of articulating in the bass of the plectrum. instrument and thus creates the impression of an additional hand being added to the game.
